On March 4, 2024, a group of second-year MBBS students from Dr. N. Y. Tasgaonkar Institute of Medical Science (NYTIMS) visited an anganwadi center at Diksal village in Karjat taluka, as part of their community medicine curriculum. The students interacted with the anganwadi workers and the beneficiaries of the center, which included pregnant women, lactating mothers, and children under six years of age. The students learned about the various services and schemes provided by the anganwadi center, such as supplementary nutrition, health check-ups, immunization, pre-school education, and counseling. The students also conducted a health awareness session for the villagers on topics such as maternal and child health, nutrition, hygiene, and COVID-19 prevention. The visit was an enriching experience for the students, as they gained practical knowledge and exposure to the rural health scenario and the challenges faced by the anganwadi workers. The visit was organized and supervised by the faculty members of the Department of Community Medicine of NYTIMS.
